One of the many things I am learning while I begin this journey back to being up right from flat on my back, is how my body reacts/responds to medications. I was going to say drugs but some of you might get the wrong idea. :)
Anyway, when I was brought into the hospital last Sunday, I was asked if I was allergic to any medications. I said "no" because to the best of my knowledge, I am not. I discovered today that one of the reasons, I thought I was not allergic, is because I have never had to take any medications, especially for pain, for any length of time. Today I woke up with a rash/hives/ bumps of some kind all over my back. Did not hurt at all but man was it itchy. I took a Claritin for the rash (it is better now) and then had to go through the hassle of getting an "on call" doctor to phone in a different prescription.
For those of you who are keeping track, I have dropped the "Norco" and I am now on Darvacet. Not sure if I am spelling it correctly, but I will see how the body responds to this stuff.
The point behind this ramble is that being sick or laid up or on medications is not something I have ever had to deal with before. I have been lucky. Being flat on my back has given me a different perspective.
