My Buddy Steve

Received my first official home visit from my backpacking buddy Steve today. Coincidentally, he was the guy who re-introduced me to Waterhouse Lake and the trail I was on when "the accident" occurred. He would have ordinarily been with me on tis hike except he had flown to Canada to do some "real fishing"...his words not mine.
To say his visit lifted my spirits would be an understatement. He can totally relate to the whole episode and asked questions that only someone who has hiked that trail often can ask.
I should probably admit at this point that the word trail can have different meanings to different people. Evidently my family had one picture in their brain of the kind of trail I have been hiking for the past few years and when they discovered the reality, there were some unhappy people.
In any case we talked about past visits and even future visits (way in the future, but that is OK). It was fun, we laughed and I can't wait for the next visit. Tomorrow is a big day! I am meeting my new orthopedic surgeon, getting some new x-rays taken and a fresh cast applied. I will fill you all in on the details tomorrow night.
