For those of you who suspect I might be older than I act, here is some verification for you. This is a title to a song byThe Shirelles which was a hit in 1962. It is also the explanation for why I have not posted anything on this blog in three days. The old addage about feeling sore 48 hours after working out also holds true for surgery. It is normlly 72 to 96 hours before what has happened to you really sinks in. To say that I have been unable to concentrate due to the pain in my leg would be an understatement.
But guess what...today was a much better day and I am sure every day from here on out will be better than the previous. Okay, I really do not believe that because I am sure there will be days of rehab that from a pain perspective will really blow. But I prefer to concentrate on the fact that I am getting better and every day will be a better day!
So, lets see if I can't catch you all up on what has happened since my last post. The second day at the hospital was kind of boring cause nothing was really happening. They could have sent me home but due to my age (yeah that again) the doctor wanted another day to monitor the swelling, infection and potential for blood clots. Yes they are very upbeat at Sonora Regional. The good part about the day was that Jennifer, my nurse from the previous day, was my nurse again. Always nice working with a known quantity instead of breaking in a stranger right? I also had a few visitors who wandered up the hill from Modesto and that helped pass the day. The food continued to surpass its expectations and I got just that much closer to release.
I will not bore any of you with the trials and tribulations of the past two days, but I would like to thank all of you who have written, emailed, called and sent best wishes telepathically. I appreciate each and every one of them and am doing my best to personally thank each of you. I know I am a bit behind, but I am doing my best to catch up.
It is going to be my goal to post something every day, so stayed tuned and keep the positive vibes flowing.
