Learning Lessons The Hard Way

As most of you know, I was put on restriction by my doctor on Tuesday. I was supposed to do nothing...no work, no play, no nothing...for three days. That would be Tuesday, Wedneday and Thursday. I obeyed those orders for the most part and woke up this morning feeling pretty darn good.

So good in fact that I decided I could do a little work today and since I was going to be working, why not do it at work? Right? I was able to talk Darryl into coming over to my house and picking me up at around 12:30 and I stayed at work until about 3:30. Three measly hours right?

Well I know there are some of you who are already shaking your heads, but it is now 9:30 and I am still paying the price for walking around for three hours. I am almost laughing at how ridiculous it is for me to rush this process. I do not know what it is about me that makes me push the process, but I am learning...the hard way...that when it comes to a leg and ankle with multiple breaks, pushing has a price and quite frankly, today the price was too high. I know I am going to wake up in the morning and everything will be fine. I might even be tempted to repeat today's behavior unless I hold myself accountable by making a public declaration.

So, in front of the seven of you who are following this blog and anyone else who occassionally checks in to read the latest post, I am pledging not to push beyond the doctor's orders until he says it is ok to do so...

How is that for being definitive?
