What a Day!

I am pretty pumped right now. I have just completed my third straight hour without being forced to think about my leg. Now when I say forced, what I mean is that for the last 13 days, my leg has pretty much throbbed non-stop. It is making me think about it! My friend Jeff, who lives in Maryland, had a similar experience about 5 years ago. He fell off a ladder and shattered his left heel. It required 12 screws and sixteen weeks of inactivity before they would let him even start rehab. He was in town this week and brought dinner over last night.

We were sitting around just talking about stuff when he stopped, looked me in the eye and said "it is just throbbing, isn't it." Not a question...a statement. I just nodded and he said "yeah, that is my strongest memory from my injury...the throb." Interestingly, not even drugs stop the throb.

I guess it is not surprising, the throb, especially when you consider what I di to it and then the trauma of the surgery.

Anyway, for the past three hours I have not felt the trob and that feels great. It also is a good reminder of how I am going to be feeling in about 70 days! What a great feeling and consequently, what a day!
