A few days ago I introduced you to my friend Steve. More than anyone, I think that this accident of mine has had a big impact on him. I say that because he is most familiar with the terrain/trail I was on and I think he realizes that it could have been him that had the accident. I also think that this has served as a wake-up call that despite how we may feel about ourselves (Steve and I), we are not bullet proof.
In any case Steve is an alumni of the University of Oregon, who as it happens, played their first game of the 2009/2010 season last night in Boise against the Broncos. Being the good friend that he is, he came by last night, helped pour me into his truck and took me over to his house to watch the game. WooHoo! My first official outing! Prior to this event, I had left the house exactly twice...both times to go the the Doctor's office.
There were actually six of us guys at the house and I cannot tell you how much fun it was to do something "normal" like hanging out with some guys watching a college football game. I am paying the price today as my leg is probably more sore than it should be, but that is why the pharmaceutical companies invented Percocet right? And if given the chance to do it again, I would do so in a heart beat. I am thinking this is the attitude I am going to need to have when I actually start rehab.
I hope you all have a great Labor Day Weekend, whether you have something special planned or not. Take advantage of the opportunities presented to you.
