This time two weeks ago I had been in the Emergency Room at Sonora Regional Hospital, having been poked, prodded, drugged, xrayed and prepped for surgery. I cannot believe that was two weeks ago. I was talking with my Mom today, she calls every other day to make sure I am healing, and she also expressed surprise at the fact that it has "already" been two weeks. When you look at it mathematically, I am 16.67% recovered. This is based on the Doctor's prediction that it will take me 12 weeks to recover. Since I am planning on healing faster than that I am actually closer to being 20% recovered, but I am willing to work with the conservative numbers for now.
Actually, after covering for me for the first of what will be about ten weeks, I am sure that Darryl is hoping I am 25% recovered. I have discovered that there is no better way for your boss to fully understand what it is you do than to have them go out and do your job. Don't get me wrong, Darryl is a great boss who appreciates me and the work I do. I have no doubt about that at all. I am just aying that after spending four straight days on the road working in the field with reps, his sense of appreciation has been heightened.
I am facing a new challenge though, that I will talk about tomorrow after I have the actual numbers to look at...but here is a hint. The title is "The Battle of the Bulge."
Enjoy your Labor Day.

ReplyDeletei just read through some of your blog. that sucks big time!!! you have confirmed my greatest fears...i am never going to leave my house again. actually, my fear is that something similar would happen to me ever with the relatively low impact lifestyle i maintain. after boogie boarding about 20 times this summer i feel grateful that i didn't break anything in some of the big waves that visited san diego. my thoughts are with you and i hope you recover in record time for the old f**$er you are.
